]]>We had a great time at ICRA2022 Philadelphia last week. Our CEO Yulai, CTO Caio, technical expert Bruno, and a few others from our top team were at the conference to talk more about Novabot and answer essential questions about our technology. We are honored to join this prestigious event with world-famous companies such as Boston Dynamics, Ghost Robotics, Dyson, Tesla, Toyota, OhmniLabs, Johnson & Johnson, Caterpillar, Amazon Science, and John Deere, as well as other GRASP Lab startups.
Novabot got a lot of attention at the conference. Many people told us how much they hated mowing their lawns. The discussion with people gave us confidence that our technology could make a big difference and encouraged us to keep going. We also enjoy meeting new people and making connections with ICRA partner exhibitors.
We also had a great chance to join a parade of robots that Novabot could drive around the conference floor during the conference. Each company showed up their product’s features and function. It was terrific to go to Novabot next to these well-known businesses.
On the last day, Novabot attended the demo show which took place at the GRASP Lab where companies were giving demonstrations of their innovations. We set up a booth to show how Novabot learns its surroundings and boundaries for the first time before beginning to cut.
In the meantime, our R&D team has not stopped our product development and kept on testing Novabot's features and functions, including things like testing for coldproof, noise, cuts, slope, etc. For example, in the picture below, you can see that our model is tested at -25.5 degrees Celsius, which is about -13.9 degrees Fahrenheit.

]]>Thanks again for joining us for the 1-hour live stream on Sunday! We are s so happy that so many backers showed up to our live stream and had a great conversation with Yulai and Caio! Your continuous support and sincere suggestions made us feel more and more confident about the successful launch of our first generation of Novabot! Our CEO Yulai and CTO Ciao have walked through all the details of Novabot’s latest designs.
During the live stream, they also provided an update on the current project's progress and responded to numerous questions from backers. It is our pleasure to receive so much positive feedback from you and your fellow backers on the new design and understanding of the possible delay of our project. We are also glad to announce that, at the request of many of our backers, our Novabot now offers a remote-control -mapping option for high accuracy boundary marking.
We do realize that many of you missed our live stream for various reasons, and our team is still working to find a better live streaming schedule for backers to watch from all over the world.
We believe many backers are wondering what happened during our live, and what specific questions had been asked. Here we selected several identical questions which are mostly concerned with backers. For the rest of the questions, we will prepare and release them in our Facebook group sooner.
It is estimated that the delivery date is delayed by one to two months as a result of the impact of different challenges on the construction duration. We anticipate shipping in September, based on manufacturer estimates and the timeline of our progress. We will post updated manufacture and delivery schedule in the future to keep you informed.
A part of the software features that version 2 has will also be delivered to version 1. However, we will upgrade the hardware design so the other features relying on new hardware will only be available on the second version.
The route will be planned by the algorithm. But our user can customize a few parameters like the height of the cutting blade and the cutting area.
As planned, the APP is in the developing stage yet. We will review and test its’ compatibility with our Novabot and different OS of phones. Therefore, we are planning to provide you with some functional user interface designs shortly. The APP will be available before Novabot is distributed.

]]>As mentioned, we have improved the design of Novabot and we have a schematic rendering for you. Due to the pandemic, our supply chain and progress of manufacturing had been impacted, and it also offered us opportunities to test our Novabot intensively in variety of ways. As the result, we found that Novabot did have so many potentials to improve.
With the new material of the shell, Novabot’s resistance ability to extreme temperatures has been significant improved, now it can function well in both high and low temperatures without system heating up or breaking down. This can properly protects the sensitive components inside from harsh weather effects thus lowering the maintenance costs.
At the same time, we also improve the way how the components are laid out inside the shell which make the repairs and replacements work much easier. Such an internal structure can also reduce the potential damage from motor vibrations and potential collisions the Novabot mows your lawn. The vibrations from mowing and driving up steep inclines can be intense but with our improvements, vibrations and shocks are absorbed.
Lastly, to make the transparent dome adopt to our panorama camera well, we raise the height of camera deck a little bit and change the shape of camera shield. Such design provides Novabot zero blind spot and it also improves the accuracy of deck-returning.

This year, Philadelphia holds ICRA 2022, and this is also the first in-person conference in the post-pandemic era. As promised, we are bringing you another weekly update. Our supply chain team is working extremely hard to make sure that all major components and parts can be delivered to our factories and our testing center on time. The ongoing new wave of covid is delaying the operation of our supply chain and factories. Several parts were stuck in Shanghai and we tried our best to get them to hit the road before the lockdown.
The engineering and manufacturing team are facing the second half of their quarantine but are very eager to begin testing the remaining major components of Novabot before they head to manufacturing! The major components are the drive train, surveillance system, optical sensors, motor, and AI chips. After each module is manufactured then the assembly can be done rapidly for delivery.
The quarantine time is being spent productively! To make sure you can get a better interactive experience with Novabot, we have improved our display screen and buttons on Novabot — 8 buttons are equipped for easy operation and multi-function choices.

]]>We’ve hit a few bumps along the way from our last update with the recent lockdowns in major cities. But, our engineering team just has made it to the factory, and following mandatory quarantine they will resume working with the manufacturer to complete and test several upgrades and potential solutions we have made!
We have ordered several different major components from different suppliers such as engines and blades that should arrive just as the team exits quarantine. During this time we will also conduct safety tests to ensure production compliance. We are even working on making the exterior of Novabot have upgraded features for sensing and navigation.
Both our manufacturers are working continuously with our engineering team to complete pre-manufacturing. After tests, the team will go to Shenzhen to finalize manufacturing and proceed with mass production.

]]>Lexy and Foxconn are the leading manufacturers of electronics and gardening tools. Lexy Inc is the world's largest manufacturer of home appliances, and Foxconn is known as the world’s largest manufacturer. Both manufacturers are reputable for high manufacturing quality and labor standards.
Both our manufacturers experienced lockdown for half-month due to the ongoing pandemic, so there was a 10-15 days estimate daley on the delivery of our production prototypes. Once we have them, we will release the pictures and videos about prototypes and the footage of testing.

From an in-depth conversation with the R&D team, it’s clear that the charging station here will integrate great multi-dimensional functions into one single physical form with a nice design representing the future.

Thus, the Novabot charging station has ‘transformed’ into a station that not only just provides charging services, but also amplifies your signal! This includes a combination of different techniques. Your smartphone app will always exchange INFO with your wireless smart robot mower with NO PROBLEM.
Such innovative design is not limited to the features mentioned above. Next-generation AI Board
Due to the pandemic, there is a shortage of global board supplies. In order to deliver Novabot on time, we are working with manufacturers and have already ordered many new AI boards.
We are currently testing a new AI board with scalable processors designed for AI performance, flexibility, cost, and energy efficiency. The new AI board reduces its power consumption and has 6x higher energy efficiency and throughput per dollar than the industry standard. It also performs deep learning tasks more efficiently with its revolutionary Bernoulli architecture brain processing unit (BPU).
Major Software Update
For the safety of our valued customers, we have added a Guardian module to check the status of Novabot in real-time. If there is any warning reported, the Guardian module will process it in no time. Furthermore, we optimized the PNC (Planning and Control) module and updated the implementation of the code, making it more robust and efficient than ever.
